NVIDIA is one of the world leading manufacturers of GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) technology, a computer technology that powers modern video games and which can be tapped for many other applications. As modern games are particularly demanding in terms of computing power, GPUs are designed to be many times more powerful than traditional computer processors.
NE Scientific (NES) is exploiting GPU technology in novel ways to accelerate computations that are at the core of a platform for guiding a surgical intervention for cancer treatment. Without use of this technology it would be impossible to otherwise perform fast enough calculations to provide real-time guidance in the operating room.
