We are happy to report that we have filed today for a provisional patent application with the US Patent Office for a surgical navigation system based on Augmented Reality that will enhance and simplify the task of inserting needles during percutaneous Radio Frequency Ablation and Biopsy procedures under CT or MRI guidance.

RFA AR Navigation

The proposed system, object of the invention, mixes image-guidance, surgical tool tracking, and augmented reality technologies and has the potential of greatly simplifying the task of inserting needles and needle-shaped surgical tools to target locations inside the body. The system should also significantly reduce the radiation dose for the patient and for the operators during CT-guided procedures, and enhance the spatial accuracy to which needles can be deployed.
